I wonder how long it takes to whip yourself 20 levels into shape...

As the first true expansions for its parent game, Guild Wars: Eye of the North had a lot of standards to live up to. Not only that, but it seemed to offer a breathtaking supply of new opportunities for higher level players and guilds. Whipping himself into level 20 shape, Cody "Micajah" Bye took a stroll around the new content in GW:EN and dove into the new multi-level dungeons. What did he think? Read the review to find out!

    Cody chooses a faction.

Continuing on the week of Guild Wars coverage, Cody "Micajah" Bye recently sat down with the second addition to the Guild Wars series, GW: Factions, and has delivered a review of the stand-alone product. While the game may not be a simple addition to the original Guild Wars, it still delivers plenty of new content for the Guild Wars veteran and continues to be an easy introduction for new players. Although it's been several years since the release of the original Guild Wars, the game remains one of the most popular MMOGs on the market today. To flesh out our list of reviewed games and as a precursor to the release of Guild Wars: Eye of the North, Ten Ton Hammer put Cody "Micajah" Bye on the task of reviewing ArenaNet's first foray into the MMOG marketplace. Nightfall Reviewd at Women Gamers

WomenGamers.com has posted a review of the latest Guild Wars Expansion. See what they think of Nightfall...

For 2006, Guild Wars gets my "Top MMORPG" mark for the second time. Arena Net has taken great pains to help keep their games from having a "slimy" community. Guild Wars still gets my highest marks for a "safer" environment from verbal abuse than several of the other games that I play for reviews. Although that isn't saying much anymore.

    A Little Rain Must Nightfall

MMORPG.com has posted their review of Guild Wars Nightfall. Keep reading to see what their thoughts are...

As with Factions, Nightfall adds two new character classes: The spear throwing Paragon and the whirling Dervish. Both classes come with new skills and weapons, although some feel very familiar, like they slapped a fresh coat of paint on some old skills. The Paragon is a good ranged damage dealer, and also has a variety of buffs for himself and his party. The Dervish fights in close with scythes and damage dealing spells.

An illuminating dissection of the latest chapter in the MMOG saga

Computer and Video Games has posted a review of Guild Wars latest expansion today. See what they had to say about Nightfall!

n fact, at times Guild Wars: Nightfall is a bit hard to call an MMORPG. It has all of the hallmarks of the genre, but at times it feels all too similar to old-man Diablo II mixed with two-parts EverQuest and three-parts of fantasy-cliché. Playable as a standalone part of the Guild Wars world, Nightfall mimics Factions by bringing two new classes to the table. The god-bothering, scythe-swinging Dervish can enchant himself with all sorts of spiritual prayers and cause ice and earth damage, and the friendly neighbourhood Paragon can tactically assist players on the battlefield with various buffs and health boosts while lobbing spears at people's heads.

    Steadily Building a Behemoth

2404.org has weighed in with their thoughts on the latest Guild Wars expansion. Do they give passing marks to Nightfall?

The massively multiplayer online game world is currently strangling under the weight of World of WarCraft — a fine game, but any publisher hoping to compete must offer something completely different. Alas, innovations in the role-playing game concept are few and far between, but NCSoft did find one idea attractive to any gamer, and made it key to Guild Wars. This earthshaking concept? An MMO without the monthly fee. $15 a month may not be much when weighed against endless glories of Azeroth, but “free” is a constant temptation.

Throwing the "pay to play" model out the window

Games Radar has been busy today! they've posted another review. This time of Guild Wars.

With an incredibly fluid and flexible character creation system, Guild Wars never lets you feel that you’ve been trapped in a certain character build. There are six professions: the Warrior, Monk, Necromancer, Mesmer, Ranger, and Elementalist. You’ll need to choose a main and secondary profession for any character, however out of the hundreds of unlock able skills available, you can only take eight with you when leaving a main city or entering a PvP arena.

Come to Cantha, where adventures await

Games Radar has posted a review of Guild War's second expansion, Factions.

Factions is a stand-alone campaign, meaning that you won’t need the original Guild Wars Prophecies to play. However, if you own the original Prophecies you can bring your character over to Cantha - the breathtaking Asia-inspired continent where Guild Wars Factions takes place. Filled with towering pagodas and lush environments, Cantha looks fabulous and adds an eastern flavor to the stock medieval fantasy land of Tyria from Prophecies.

Don't miss a thing, head over and read the rest of the review.

Is Nightfall a hit or miss?

Computer Games has posted their review of Guild Wars' latest expansion Nightfall...

A year and a half ago, Guild Wars took the MMO world by surprise with its lack of a monthly fee. It was an interesting idea: Arena.net and NCsoft planned to compensate this through the sales of addons. Originally intended to be used with the original game, they eventually became stand alone titles themselves, called Chapters, the result being that the first Guild Wars became the Prophecies chapter. The second effect of this move was the price of the chapters, which if divided by the number of months it took to release one, resulted in the approximate value of the monthly fee in other MMOs. But it also meant that the game would have the same price tag as a stand alone title.

Nightfall is a nice addition to the ever growing library of Guild Wars content

GameShark has taken time to review the latest expansion of Guild Wars. Keep reading to see what their thoughts on Nightfall are.

Nightfall, the third installment in the perennial Guild Wars franchise bears the clever moniker “Never fight alone!” Clever because it is laced with ironic undertones such as the thought of fighting alone in a massively multiplayer online game and especially due to the fact that you can’t fight alone. Seriously.

GameWorld Network Weighs In On Nightfall

Game World Network has taken time to post their review of Nightfall, the latest expansion for Guild Wars.

Nightfall opens up the lands of Elona to players. Elona is an African themed world of rich detail, the look of Elona is lush with greens and soft browns of the desert. A good graphics card can really treat the eyes to the beauty of Elona. The story of Nightfall begins with the introduction of a new god to the existing five. The original five gods are your run of the mill Greek inspired gods.

Massively multiplayer mayhem minus the monthly fees

Games Radar has taken the time to review the latest expansion for Guild Wars. Do they think Nightfall is a hit or miss? Keep reading to find out.

Like its predecessors, Guild Wars Nightfall breaks the standard business model set by Sony and Blizzard by offering a streamlined, massively multiplayer online role-playing experience with a robust PvP system and lots of new missions for adventurers - minus the monthly fees.

Set in the Egyptian-inspired land of Elona, Nightfall adds two new professions to the original six from Guild Wars: Prophecies (the original Guild Wars, which was retroactively renamed when the first expansion came out).

    A Look at NightFall

Boomtown has posted their review of Guild Wars' latest expansion Nightfall.

The overarching plot of Nightfall is fairly clichéd stuff, but its written in a gripping enough manner and is interwoven with interesting subplots to keep you engaged while plowing through a succession of quests on your way to the level cap of 20.

Guild Wars with its third chapter release wants to prove it’s still going strong with Nightfall, new lands and new follies challenge the people of Elona

StrategyInformer has posted their look at the latest expansion for GuildWars. Keep reading to see what they have to say about Nightfall...

MMORPG, no monthly fees, it must be the perfect combination for so many out there wanting to taste this surreal ever-growing genre. Though you may not need to pay beyond the usual retail price tag, Guild Wars is a real contender for others out there. I entered this games universe with a prejudice; after having tasted World of Warcraft and becoming some what hooked I doubted this could really impress me. My preconceptions were very wrong; in fact I’ve seen much strength over other MMO’s.

Jolt Takes a Look At Nightfall

Another review of Nightfall hits the web today over at Jolt. Keep reading to see what they think of the lastest Guild Wars expansion.

From being one of the more left-field MMO entries in recent memory, Guild Wars has gone on to establish quite a name for itself. The fact that the franchise is now on its third major marketing campaign in less than two years certainly doesn’t hinder matters. Whereas typical subscription-model MMOs are happy to soak up monthly fees and undergo major expansions only once in a blue moon, Guild Wars’ entire revenue model depends upon keeping game boxes on store displays and the Guild Wars name on players’ lips.

Pass or Fail? Find Out How Nightfall Scores

Playtm has posted a review of the recently released expansion for Guild Wars. Keep reading to see what they think of Nightfall...

A sequel to anything, be it film, book or game, is usually hissed at and never thought to be as good as the original but, with Guild Wars: Nightfall, the opposite has most certainly occurred. With two new classes, story, missions, PVP (player versus player) mode, items, NPC heroes and setting, it offers twice as much as both original Prophecies and sequel Factions put together.

A worthy addition to the series that erases the mistakes of factions whilst keeping true to the Guild Wars ethic

Games Extreme has posted their look at the recently released Guild Wars Nightfall. They rate this expansion pretty high...

Nightfall is a standalone chapter which means the storyline is in no way related to the previous two instalments. You play the role of a Sunspear recruit and work your way through the ranks in the middle of a civil war. The story does the series justice, the way the story unfolds and the general pace of the story telling is spot on. Expect a story similar to factions rather than the disjointed tales in Prophecies.

    Nightfall Review At Atomic Gamer

AtomicGamer.com has posted an interesting review of the recently released expansion to Guild Wars.

The most notable of the additions made in Nightfall are the Heroes. As you go through the story of the game, you’ll unlock various heroes. You can only ever have 3 in your party at once, but there’s a good reason for that. See, these heroes are totally customizable by you, the player. Want a Monk/Necromancer that never really has mana issues? How about an AE-focused elementalist? Go for it – you can decide how the character’s skill points are spent, alter said skill points just like you would with your character and will have access to any skills you’ve previously unlocked with your main character.

Keep reading to learn more. Have you played Nightfall? Share your experiences with us in our Ten Ton Hammer Forums. Don't forget to head over to our Guild Wars Ten Ton Hammer Community site to see all the latest news and information on all things Guild Wars!
