    Q&A with EA Mythic

WarCry has posted this interview with EA Mythic. It covers Dark Age of Camelot.

Our devs are dedicated to reviewing classes every patch, and looking for places where all classes need help. We don’t like to say what exactly is being looked at too far in advance, since things do tend to change, but we’re certainly not finished with class revamps yet. You’ll just have to keep an eye out for the notes on Pendragon, our test server.

Director of Community Relations chats about Labyrinth of the Minotaur

MMORPG.com has posted an interview with the Director of Community Relations for Dark Age of Camelot, Sanya Thomas. In this interview she dodges some questions the team just isn't ready to answer. Keep reading to see what the folks at MMORPG.com were able to learn.

EA Mythic's Director of Community Relations Sanya Thomas recently sat down with us for an interview on their recently announced Dark Age of Camelot expansion, Labyrinth of the Minotaur. Unfortunately, there were a few questions she was not yet ready to answer fully. Nonetheless, for those that cannot wait, here is what we learned.

MMORPG.com: Obviously, the idea of a cross-realm class and a cross-realm race is a departure for a game that has always been quite strictly segregated. Why did you choose to go a route that seemingly brings the three realms closer together?

Find out the answer to this question and more. When you're done with this interview, share your thoughts right here in the forums at Ten Ton Hammer.

All of these Mythic interviews, and nothing on Warhammer! /sigh
GamerGod speaks with the Community Relations folks at Mythic. What ensues is a whole lot of background info on Mythic and some mythifying comments on PvP in other games...

Jeff: It seems like, Worlds of Warcraft for example, they put PvP in, but the best way to do it Mythic has already done so they end up reinventing the wheel so to speak. In my opinion, and I shouldn’t comment on WoW, I don’t mean to catch you that way-

Sanya: But that game was not designed as a PvP game from the ground up. That was designed as a PvE game that they added PvP to as a separate system. With ours the whole game was designed from the beginning to be about RvR. When you try to add anything on after the fact, it is always going to be, well not awkward but it won’t be as seamless.
They do what they do very well, and I think we do what we do very well.

For once, we don't put real life on hold...
GamersInfo.net talks to Mark Jacobs of Mythic about the social impact of MMOGs today and in the future

GamersInfo.net: In Asia we see players who are literally playing themselves to death, and there are numerous cases in the States of players with mental health conditions.

Mark Jacobs: And in America, we have people who become so obsessed with stars (and the characters that they are portraying) that they become stalkers. Should we ban actors/actresses, because they are so good in their roles that people forget they are simply players and not the real thing? Should we stop making films because some people get so upset over them that they cry or become depressed? One of the beautiful things about America is that we are a country where people get to express their artistic, creative, personal, political, etc., opinions/works and other people are free to agree/disagree/participate or ignore them. Nobody forces anyone to buy a video game any more than a person is forced to buy a book or watch a television program. I'm all for Rating systems that work to satisfy the legitimate concerns of parents but at the same time I also believe in the ability of individuals/companies to create great entertainment no matter whether it is a book, game, movie, etc. People do terrible and tragic things everyday. Should we ban cars because some drunken fool kills somebody else? Should we prevent all the elderly from driving because some elderly people aren't fully capable of handling a car? Should a pharmaceutical company stop making a drug because somebody decided that taking 30 of the pills instead of one was a good idea? Should we ban all high school sports because some parents and kids become so "addicted" to winning that they throw common sense, decency and fair play right out the window? A wise person once said, "people are broken" and sadly, we see the truth in that statement play out every day in the news.

Check out the GamersInfo.net Q&A with Mythic's Mark Jacobs, one of the true long-timers in the industry.

    Camelot gets a second bathroom.
GameCloud has posted a Dark Age of Camelot: Darkness Rising interview featuring Sanya Weathers, the company's Internet Relations Manager. By "Internet Relations Manager" they mean press herder. We contacted Pee Wee Herman, a man who needed a press herder, but his could only get his answering machine which had the following message:

    "
Despite tons of new competition, Mythic Entertainment's fantasy MMORPG
Dark Age of Camelot continues to be one of the most popular in the
genre. Later this month the company willl release their latest
expansion pack Dark Age Of Camelot: Darkness Rising and Gamecloud got a
chance to chat with the company's Internet Relations Manager Sanya M.
Weathers to find out more about the expansion as well as other Mythic

One on the go and two more on the way.
RPGVault has a Dark Age of Camelot: Darkness Rising interview with Walter Yarbrough, the expansion's producer posted. We remain unconvinced that NHL Hockey settlement talks were postponed
indefinitely upon realizing that they wrote this:

"In Mythic Entertainment's popular Dark Age of Camelot the noble ideals of chivalry, justice and honor no longer define daily life in the legendary community. After King Arthur's demise, the idyllic age characterized by the Knights of the Round Table has soon ended. Instead, three realms contend for supremacy. Albion is where the fabled city still stands. Its inhabitants are primarily humans such as Britons and Saracens, plus Half Ogres and Inconnu. Based on Irish themes and populated by races like the Celts, Firbolgs, Elves, Sylvan, Hibernia is a verdant area where many lean toward the magical arts. Norse-influenced Midgard lies to the north, frequently producing strong, hardy warriors. Trolls, Dwarves, Norsemen, Valkyn and others call it home. Each of these domains persistently seeks to assert itself through force of arms, and to capture the treasures held by the others."
