The class we all love to hate

When you want to sneak around in shadows and make your enemies pay for unknown transgressions you will find yourself in a Rogue state of mind. If you feel more at home in the shadows than in broad daylight then a Rogue just might be for you. Join ZeroMerc as he tries to pry the Rogue out of the shadows

Rouges use a very familiar consumption type for their attacks called “energy”.  A lot of the Rogues I have played in recent games are using this as a way for them to not have unlimited attacks.  If they ever created a class that had that as a capability it would really be beyond crazy.  Alas I digress...

Do you like to have at least three ways out of every situation? The
Scout is the tactical ranged class in Runes of Magic. A class that will
    best serve
you the further away you are from the fight. So... with out further ado
join ZeroMerc in the Scouts guide

The Scouts are among the most tactical
classes in Runes.  You will be planning every pull solo or in
group to add to your advantage of distance.  Scouts seem to be a
burst class that can kill quickly from afar.  You will rely mostly
on not being anywhere near you enemy and if they do get close you will
be running or evading and hoping that a there is a friend close by who
can take more damage than you.

Runes of Magic is a free to play MMO that is new to the market.  We sent out ZeroMerc to check out the game, play a few classes and give us his first impressions of this latest instalment into the  world of free to play MMO's.  Join him as he shares his first impressions of Runes of Magic.

Oh how does RoM shine at the character creation screen. A lot of players focus on what their character can do and a lot focus on how the character looks. This is a game that gives you a full complement of options for really making the character yours. With approximately twenty choices in hair and face each the combinations are almost limitless. Other options are hair color, chest, hand and feet size, waist, height, arm and leg size, and more. You can easily spend 30-60 minutes on this screen simply creating your character to look just like you want them to.

two things will become apparent very quickly. One, you can’t do much damage. In fact up through level 10 you have three damage dealing spells and one spell that helps keep you safe. Everything else in your arsenal is designed to heal and resurrect your fellow .players and of course yourself. Two, even if you pick a damage dealing class, example would be a mage, as your secondary class after level 10 you will still more than likely be called on to heal in almost every single scenario.

Runes of Magic players will be engaged by a new challenge soon. Frogster has announced details about a new 12 man raiding instance coming to the game with one of the coming updates. Players will need to brave the Aotulia Volcano to face off against the new flame dragon Gestero.

Of the five ancient dragon races, the flame dragons are the strongest and most powerful species. To fight and vanquish them is an almost impossible task. Yet, Taborean heroes are called to face up to the challenge, for the Naga have captured Gestero, a renegade flame dragon, possessed by demons. They want to use him to help them suppress the free people of Taborea. Whoever wants to stand in this fire-spewing monster’s way must penetrate deep into the fire of the Aotulia Volcano. On the way down into the crater, raid parties will find wave after wave of heavily armed elite Naga barring their way.

Free-to-Play games are a dime a dozen these days, but there are a few that rise above the pack. Runes of Magic is one of those few to make the grade. Easy accessibility, smooth graphics, and fun gameplay combine to make this one F2P game that’s worth checking out. To help get you on your journey, Dalmarus has created this handy guide for Wardens just stepping into this dangerous land.

Most of the time, you’re going to feel like a husband dress shopping with his wife; sure, he can tell himself he’s making a difference in her decision with his suggestions, but he’s really just there to hold her purse. Your Spirit of the Oak pet isn’t rude enough to let you know how useless you are to him, but it’ll be a while before you shake the feeling that *you’re* the pet.

Think of them as Norse Berserkers. They’re more concerned with dealing out massive amounts of damage than they are about their own safety. This makes them extremely dangerous to any and all enemies.

How would you like to win some prizes for gutting your enemies and leaving their carcass to the crows? Of course you would and Runes of Magic is giving you the chance. In a contest that will be running through August, players will have a chance to compete and maybe win one of 10 Alienware Laptops. Details on the first phase of the contest were sent to us today, but the second phase details will be revealed later this month.

In celebration of opening our newest PVP server for Runes of Magic, called Indigo, we are launching a unique new contest. This contest will happen in two phases: the first phase is a test of might, strategy, and for some, teamwork to determine who can reach the 50/50 dual class level cap in the shortest time played.

When gamers first discovered Frogster’s Runes of Magic, it was too easy to dismiss the title as “another World of Warcraft clone.” Once beta began and people got a taste of the many features and design elements present in the world of Taborea, players understood that Frogster was on to something with its free-to-play title. As the game closes in on three months since the official launch and over one million registered users, Ten Ton Hammer takes a look at the top six reasons to play Runes of Magic.
