Aion Weekly Newsletter: The Fanboi versus The Hater

Will you choose sides?
Aion-Resting
While most of the Aion playerbase stays quietly tucked away in their blanket of innocence, and epic battle grows between the two sides of the vocal minority as we watch it play out on gaming forums across the web. Agree or disagree with the vocal, it is hard to turn a blind eye to the bickering.

Amongst the general chatter that you'll find on any gaming forum, you'll also see the phenomenon that I speak of. A cloister of players whose sole mission is to defend their beloved game, and those who are hell bent on damning it. Not unlike the epic struggle of good versus evil, the fanboi versus the hater never truly dies and tends to crop up after every game release and continues to feed and thrive on public attention long after the game is dead.

Get in on the discussion and catch up with this week's Aion and Ten Ton Hammer news in the latest newsletter!

This has been shown time and again with mumorpugers that came ou...

Just because WoW changed everything doesn't mean that the player base wants every other MMO coming out to be a copy of WoW with some fresh graphics slapped on it.

I understand that everything is driven by the all mighty dollar and that more then likely things will change towards making everything more and more like WoW to tap into their subscription base. However with that being said that doesn't mean that some will like or enjoy it. The fact is WoW caters to those that don't want to spend...

Well as long as the developers (and their investors) accept only having a hundred thousand or two subscribers, long term, we actually come out ahead. Developers make the games using pre-WoW formulas for progression, reward, etc... but they make them bigger and prettier because of the many more millions they got from investors.

As long as subscription numbers don't drop too low we get the benefit of all that extra investment while the WoW migrators eventually go back to WoW and look for the...
