Clan Interview - PATb

Posted August 7th, 2008 by JoBildo

JoBildo: Let’s get the courtesies out of the way first. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this interview with us. It’s always great to get to know one of clans a bit more.

Romtim: Thanks to you for introducing us to the community of Ten Ton Hammer. We were looking forward to this moment, due to TTH's good reputation.

JoBildo: Don’t mention it. Tell us a little bit about PATb. As I understand it, you’re the first Euro-Guild to be interviewed by us, no?

Romtim: Our guild was created by Finist, who is our current guild leader. I am a guild member, with the best knowledge of English, that’s why i am the representative to the community. Our guild is actually Russian-Speaking. It was created this way to afford an easy way to exchange information, to have fun between Russian's that have no great knowledge in English. However our guild is strict to behavior in public, we don’t "spam" the public chat in Cyrillic, and we all role-play in English, when with someone from outside. I would like to make a point on our guild name.

PATb stands for “Legion” in Russian, and it pronounces like (r^t'). We currently hold 120 active members, and growing, with a tier 2 guild city in construction. We are no mercenary clan, and no gank clan. We prefer to live in peace, but we are strict with any gankers.

JoBildo: How would you guys classify yourselves… you know, aside from Russian?

Romtim: Well we are actually a role-play clan. We usually play our role when we talk to other people. When we make agreements of peace or war with other guilds, we keep the atmosphere as realistic as we can, like having a meeting in a specific place, with a few people guarding the entrance from strangers. We hold many events, including initiations, which is a must to partake in by all the members of the clan. Our new members must complete tests necessary to stay in our guild. Basically it’s all about knowing our guild's rules, history, and having a lot of fun.

JoBildo: Well, along that same line, do you feel like sharing how the Clan’s run? What’s the leadership like, and how do you guys delegate authority? Basically, are you more Hitler or more Gandhi?

Romtim: Currently the guild is run by Finist - our Chieftain. Next there are 4 war-chieftains, elected by our guild members. The next rank is Elder, and there are 10 of them, also elected by people in guild. Next there are Kinsmen, which get this status after participating in the guild's life for 3 months. All others are Comrades, which are mere members of the guild. Our guild leader listens to a lot of people's opinions before making his final decision, but it can still be against the opinions of all others. So it’s like the middle between Hitler and Gandhi, hehe.

JoBildo: You mentioned 120 members, is that an active number?

Romtim: Our guild currently holds 120 members, and growing every day. It is very good to know that we are the Russian guild people prefer to join, on the Aquilonia RP-PvP server. At peak times, we have about 40 people online. It feels great to be a part in this great force, when travelling into a tavern altogether with the new members, to have some fun there.

JoBildo: It’s a pretty popular thing in terms of guilds and clans to host events on their respective servers. Is that something PATb ever does, aside from the initiations you hold?

Romtim: Currently, our guild doesn’t host OFFICIAL events on the server yet, but we always have in-clan meetings, with active role-playing. We encourage other players to role-play with us, and we join in events hosted by other guilds.

JoBildo: Okay, here comes a curveball… if there was one thing as a guild you’d change or add to Age of Conan what would it be? What do you think the game needs most?

Romtim: Currently most of our members haven't reached level 80, so they don’t experience a lack of content. So from all the level 80's I would like to say, that we all want more content, and balance in PvP (we don’t encourage one-shot battles). And from all the lower level players, we want more game stability. We all experience memory leaks, crashes, freezes, lags, ping peaks. Those are the parts of the game that need to improve, in our opinion.

JoBildo: If you guys are recruiting for new members, can you tell us what exactly it takes to become one of the PATb? What’s required of a prospective member?

Romtim: We are always recruiting mature Russian people, which follow our Code of Conduct. It doesn’t take much from a good person to join us, apart from knowing our language. Few out of hundred have failed us, but in our guild it is all tight, and we all know each other.

JoBildo: Alright, that concludes the interview. Thanks so much guys for taking the time to answer these questions and letting the community know everything they could want to know about PATb. It’s been a pleasure.

Romtim: Thank you for introducing all these guilds to the community, you have done a great job, and it’s our pleasure to be the clan interviewed today! Meet you all in Hyboria!
