Lich King Saves Pets and Mounts and Bag Space

Posted July 22nd, 2008 by Medeor

Pets and mounts all in this handy Paris Hilton dog carrier!

From the file of hallelujah, a Blizzard Blue has posted that pets and mounts will now be a "learned" skill like a recipe so once you right click on it in your bag, it will leave your inventory and jump into some ethereal-esque pet carrier.

This is a major improvement to non-hunter pet and mount management! Where once it was a novel idea to have a few of the non-combat pets or special mounts, the cost impacts have gone crazy. At level 70 almost everyone carries multiple sets of gear, weapons, potions and lotions. I even found myself dropping long time parrot carriers in Karazhan in favor of tier 4 gear, "Sorry little fella you're on your own, daddy just got his gloves." Per the post on the EU WoW forum:

"We’re pleased to announce a convenient upgrade to the way that mounts and vanity pets are handled in Wrath of the Lich King.

Players will be able to “learn” a mount or non-combat pet much like learning a spell, recipe, or new ability, and these creatures will then show up on a new Pet tab within the Character Info section of the interface. Players will be able to access and preview their learned mounts and vanity pets through this tab.

Once learned, the pet icon or mount icon will no longer appear in bag spaces or bank spaces. This inventory space will be made available once again for other adventuring needs. Pets can still be set to hotkeys by dragging them to the hotkey bar, much like any other spell or ability."

This is a huge upgrade, but it may affect the sale of the new Gigantique bags being sold by Haris Pilton.
